At Latcham, we take immense pride in fostering a workplace rooted in partnership, innovation, and inclusivity. International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of the women at Latcham who shape our success, culture, and collaborative ethos. Their achievements, insights, and leadership are integral to everything we do.

Their leadership emphasises the power of shared vision and partnership, reinforcing our commitment to excellence and challenging conventions, thereby redefining what is possible for our clients. Their efforts push our organisation to grow and evolve in an ever-changing marketplace, reinforcing our commitment to collaboration and excellence.
On occasions like International Women’s Day, it is an important reminder to take the time to reflect on the critical role that women play in shaping our company culture. Their unique perspectives and diverse experiences bring richness and depth to our team, fostering innovation and creativity. We are proud to have a diverse workforce at Latcham, where everyone has equal opportunities for growth and advancement.
Honouring Our Roots — The Legacy of Vera Hughes
Vera Hughes, our managing director, Mike Hughes's grandmother, was a pioneering graphic designer and printer in the 1950s, an era when the print and design industry was heavily male-dominated. Her boldness, creativity, and determination saw her thrive in an industry that required not just talent but resilience and innovation.
Vera not only excelled in her craft but also laid the foundation for Latcham’s values of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Her dedication to quality and her passion for creative expression inspired her family and established a legacy that continues to shape us today.
Vera’s story is a powerful reminder of the incredible impact women have had - and continue to have - on shaping industries and inspiring future generations.
Supporting Women at Latcham
At Latcham, fostering a supportive environment where women can thrive is part of our ethos. Through career development opportunities, upskilling investments, and a culture that values women’s voices, we ensure that everyone has the resources and support needed to flourish. Equality, transparency, and collaboration remain at the heart of how we work.
Celebrating Print HERstory Month
This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to join the wider print community in celebrating Print HERstory Month. It’s an inspiring initiative that highlights women’s contributions to the print industry - a community shaped by pioneers who continue to inspire the next generation of Women in Print.
As our MD Mike Hughes pointed out, it's important to take these moments of reflection, with women helping to inspire not only Latcham but also the wider industry - ''during my earlier days in the printing and mailing industry I was influenced by leaders including Dr Juliet Williams CBE of Brann Direct Marketing, Judith Donavan and June Laffe of Character Mailing.
Seen as Modern contemporaries, who continue to carry a torch as highly respected leaders in the creative and printing industry.
I would also like to take this opportunity to pay my respects to the women in Latcham who support me today and to industry leaders who work tirelessly on the UPIA Council. They are Lucy Swanson of Nutshell, Kath Doran of Spectrum Plastics, Katie Farr of Antalis UK, Sarah Kilcoyne-Gilliam of Solopress and Sarah Lees of Compass Business Finance.
Also, a special shout-out to Cathy Bittner of Cannon for her work leading the Creative Futures Project to promote the printing and mailing industry.
As well as building highly respected businesses and careers, these women play an important role in leading the industry and continue to be great role models for the next generation of Women in Print, inspiring both women and men to continue our great and noble profession.''
Looking Ahead
While we commemorate the accomplishments of the women at Latcham and across the print industry, we know there is still work to be done. We remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion, both within our organisation and the industries we work with. By listening, learning, and acting, we aim to create a truly equitable space where everyone’s contributions are celebrated.
Hats Off to Women
On this International Women’s Day, we express our sincere gratitude to the women of Latcham and beyond. You are the innovators, leaders, and collaborators who shape industries, build legacies, and inspire change. Together, we can create a future that celebrates diversity and drives innovation.
Happy International Women’s Day! From everyone at Latcham.
Join us in celebrating International Women’s Day and the incredible achievements of women everywhere!
